  1. **Unable to install modem setting through MOTIVE**

    Hi,
    I am unable to use motive application for modem installation.
    I have experimented with teracom(type-I) & NSN(type-II) modem:

    experiment detail:
    operating system - Windows Xp
    modem- 1. teracom:type-I (with this i've done telnet 192.168.1.1 & provided serial no. of modem)
    2. Nokia Siemens Network:type-II
    I have done everything as per the installation document but it failed at "registration" step, it always showed three fixed error messages

    1*modem is disconnecte/switched off
    2*problem with interacting with server
    3*firewal/antivirus is on.

    error message 1 & 3 is checked and it was not the case but not sure about whether application is interacting properly with "MOTIVE" server or not.

    with both modem i have tried 6-7 times each but remain unsuccessful.

    I need your help to proceed further & I appreciate your concern in this regard.

  2. Basic Network commands

    Go to command prompt.
    1. ping 192.168.1.1 --- (show the status of connectivity between CPE to Computer and status of data transfer).
    2. Ping www.gmail.com---- ( show the status of website ping, ip of website and status of web site packet loss.
    3. ipconfig /all ---(show the ip address of LAN/WLAN card,DHCP-enabled and alloted public IP from internet (59.x.x.x or 117.x.x.x).
    4. nslookup ----(show the DNS IP )
    5. nslookup www.gmail.com ---( show the ip of web site and domain address of server).
    6.tracert gmail.com ---( show the packet routing of the gmail server).
    7.ipconfig /displaydns (show the chache records of web site opened in your computer)

  13. How to Reset Particular card or port in ZTE DSLAM

    1. To reset the Non-working card

    Enter into Enable Mode (# mode) by Command Enable
    Enter the Password: *****
    Give Command
    reset card 3 (where 3 is card no.)


    2. To reset the particular port

    To Enter into configure mode give command configure (in Enable mode)
    (config)# interfaceadsl 2/9
    cf dslam (cfg-if-adsl-2/9)# shutdown
    (cf dslam(cfg-if-adsl-2/9)# no shutdown

    3.To see the status of port of particular card
    ( to see Admin status & Link status of all ports )

    Give command
    show interface 2/1-64 port-status
    (1-64 if the slot is of 64 port)

    To check if card status is normal (working) or not
    Dslam # slot 1
    (enter into particular slot, 1 is slot no. )

    Dslam (IPADSL8A-1) # show module

    To check the status of the ports
    ( Admin Status, SNR , Attenuation, Tx rate )
    Dslam# slot 1
    Dslam(IPADSL8A-1)#port
    Dslam(IPADSL8A-1/port)#show line dsl 1-48

    To see the temperature of individual card
    Dslam # slot 1
    Dslam (IPADSL8A-1)# show temp
    (this will show temp. of only slot 1)

    To Reset the Card
    Dslam# reset 1 hard ( 1 is card no. )

    To Reset the particular Port
    Dslam# slot 1 ( 1 is slot no. )
    Dslam(IPADSL8A-1)# port
    DSLAM(IPADSL8A-1/PORT)#disable dsl 25
    DSLAM(IPADSL8A-1/PORT)#enable dsl 25
    DSLAM(IPADSL8A-1/PORT)#exit

    But pinging normally from VPN.

  17. can any body develop a continuous Ping Tester software ?
    which can ping continuously about all 3000 DSLAM of Gujarat
    to which we can add, edit & delete list of DSLAM & comment using an Excel file

    Which can show us useful details like
    DSLAM IP
    DSLAM location
    SSA & Parent NE
    status of DSLAM up/down
    down time & date
    remark / comment for DSLAM failure

    If you have such a software or you can develop it
    plz inform us at Circle Broadband NOC
    It will be really helpful to us in continuous monitoring.

  20. I have BSNL broadband service in GIDC sachin, Dist surat for last six moths. Somehow every one to two weeks the internet goes down and when I call the local office I get the answer that the line from Surat is damaged. Also this happens generally on holidays and 5 out of 4 BSNL helpline numbers including 1504 is not answered..When I demand the answer they have many times cut the phone on me..Dont really understand this...when private companies can give 24/7 uninterrupted service why BSNL can not?
